Moving hiberfil.sys to Compact Flash card ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Thu May 31, 2007 8:52 am

I got an idea to move hiberfil.sys to Compact Flash card to get faster restore from hibernation. Has anyone tried that ? I have X31 with 4200rpm HDD.

I don't know how much benefit that will will provide; flash write speed still doesn't approach read speed. And I don't think the read transfer speed comes close to that of even the lowly 4200RPM drives . . . fast flash is ~20MB/s, and hard drives can offer up to 44MB/s.

If your hibernation file isn't fragmented, I can't imagine you'd notice a significant difference.
