Strange APM Behavior on A31P with Windows 2000

#1 Post by ethink » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:01 pm

I recently received my ThinkPad A31P (2653-R3U) back from EzServ. The machine received a replacement system planar board due to a number of problems that included system lockups and as well as problems burning CDs.

This A31p is running Windows 2000 SP 4. It sits in a 2631 docking station

I have had the A31p back for 24 hours. There still seems to be a problem with APM.

The APM works as set to turn of the LCD when it is set to 1 or 2 or 3 minutes of in-activity. However if I set the APM to turn off the LCD after 5 or more minutes of inactivity, this APM setting does NOT work.

I have done the following:

- Uninstalled and re-installed the latest APM driver for the A31p
- Verified that ACPI and PM is correctly installed (via device manager)
- Verified that the latest BIOS (1.10) is installed

I cannot figure our why the APM setting to turn the LCD off after 5 (or more) minutes does not work correctly.

This setting to turn off the LCD after 10 minuts on AC used to work fine.

Any suggestions?

Probably time to do a reinstall of Windows. You might give the following method a try.
