BIOS password and CMOS battery death/replacement, X31

Hello,

Just wanted to know:
if BIOS password is set up and my battery {CMOS?, the circle small one near RAM modules in X31} goes to heaven, will I be able {after replacement with fresh new battery} to boot my X31 with the old BIOS password, without any password or not at all?
if not, is there a chance to recover it somehow? or some hack? or new motherboard?

AFAIK this battery powers up the system clock, but if BIOS chip is without any power what happens to stored password?

my X31 is 3,5 years old and I do not know when my battery dies. so I am a bit confused and worried in advance {as always}.

thx for info.

The BIOS (supervisor) password is stored in a memory which does not need any power. If and when the backup (CMOS) battery goes dead or is removed, the password will remain and will not be changed.

Discussion on hacks, workarounds, breaking the supervisor password is not allowed by the rules of this board.
