Hello ive been wanting to upgrade my T40 (wich has an old mobility 7500 card) so I could play more higher end games. Well Im stuck in Between getting a Dock II with a BFG Nvidia 6200 pci video card wich has been known to be the most compatible card in the Dock II or get a T40 motherboard with an ati mobility 9000.

Heres some specs for each card (I know the Nvidia 6200 is a better card but being that it uses the low end pci interference Im concern that it wont perform to well in games) even though people have posted better 3dmark scores with the card.

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... dock++6200

Specs:(Ati mobility 9000) : Pixel shaders 1.4 32mb of ram Directx 8.1

(Nvidia 6200oc) :Pixel shaders 2.0 256mb of ram Directx 9

Thanks.

Plus of the 6200: It's leaps and bounds ahead of that 9000.
Minus of the 6200: It'll only work with a monitor plugged into it, NOT your laptop's LCD. Oh, and you have to be careful to get a half-height one.

You can try getting a T42 motherboard with a 9600 (roughly equivalent to a 6200).

Dock II accepts full-height cards. It's half-length, which means you can't have any obscenely long cards. These are usually very specialised cards, and I doubt any PCI graphics card would not fit. See picture on thinkwiki.
