T43 lost administrator password

#1 Post by SetTainte » Wed Aug 01, 2007 8:35 am

Current situation & Problem
I have a two-year-old T43 that I recovered from Recovery Disks a while ago.
I also re-installed Security Suite to be able to use fingerprint reader again.
After installation I started to configure it and it asked the administrator password. I input it and Thinkpad said the password was wrong!

I am 100 % sure that I know the password and I am the only one that has owned the laptop.
What can I do?

Fingerprints
Also:
I didn't pay attention to this before but during last winter the laptop messed my fingerprints somehow.
I have input all my fingerprints as administrator rights. So when I enter BIOS I am able to change settings.
Since last winter I haven't been able to enter BIOS as administrator but as user!
I didn't change any settings that time.

Customer Support
When I contacted customer support they told me that they have never heard of this king of problem so far.
They also said that that password problems are not under warranty.
I asked them how have I been able to lose my fingerprints - they were not able to answer that
The guy at customer service was however very nice and promised to contact the lab guys and to ask his boss what to do.
Now it has been a week and they have not contacted me so far.

Do you have any good ideas what to do? :?:

edit: Crap. Sorry I posted this to wrong forum. I know I'm a newbie :-p

There are a few Windows password recovery tools you can try.
T42p - Pentium M 1.8Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB 7200 RPM, ATI Mobility FireGL T2 128MB
T61p - Core 2 Duo 7300, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB 7200 RPM, nVidia Quadro FX 570M 256MB

The password is not inside Windows it is inside Security Chip.

I called to Lenovo again to ask what is the current situation.

They told me to send the laptop to them and they'll fix it for me. :)
Repair is going to be under warranty - of course :)

Happy end - once again.
