I'm having a problem with System Update 3.01.0010 failing to install the Access Connections 4.42 update on my Thinkpad Z61p.
It fails in routine install in System Update.
It fails after a reboot or two and a deferred install using System Update.
So I manually downloaded Access Connections 4.42, manually installed the installer, then manually started the installer from driver\w2k\accon. Access Connections now shows version 4.42.
But System Update doesn't recognize the install, and I can't get System Update to give up on the 4.42 Access Connections update as a deferred install.
Any suggestions on cleaning this up?
Access Connections 4.42 update and System Update
I had the same problem a few days ago, and ended up installing it manually as well. This seems to be about "par for the course" as far as System Update and Access Connections are concerned.
I believe that you would need to either modify or create a new entry in the "install.log" file (or file with a similar name) that System Update uses to determine the history of a particular installation. I think this log file is located in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update. There is another "install.log" file in the Drivers folder as well. The log file needs to be changed in such a way that it recognizes that Access Connections 4.42 is already installed and, hence (and hopefully) it would no longer appear as a "deferred" installation.
This issue has cropped up a couple of times for other applications that fail to install properly the first time. As I recall, it eventually goes away after subsequent updates. I would not waste a whole lot of time trying to clean it up, frankly, since the application is already properly installed.

Things have been funky lately with Software Installer concerning our T43 and the T30. Software Installer sez there are no updates yet I go out and find them manually...and the updates are not that recent
