I'm thinking of taking advantage of the $39 price at Frys for 1gb Kingston RAM chip DDRII PC5300. Has anyone had any experience, positive or otherwise, with Kingston RAM in their Thinkpad?

Thanks

Using the "Search" link at the top of the page and entering "kingston AND memory" in the search field, results in over 200 threads where those words appeared. If you have a particular Thinkpad model you can also include that search term. "Kingston AND pc5300" yields 10 threads.

From memory, some people have reported no problems with Kingston while others swear they will never use them. Speaking as a memory test engineer, I'd say that as long as you can test them in the system with something like memtest86+ and it passes, then you should be fine.

I have used 1GB Kingston ValueRAM PC2-5300 667MHz in my previously owned X60s without any issue. It was bought from Frys as well.

I've got 2 1GB Kingston PC2700 cards in my T40... everything is peachy.
