Rescue and Recovery v4.1.0314 Failed to Install

#1 Post by bobstockler » Mon Aug 13, 2007 7:25 pm

Looking on the Lenovo site for updates earlier today I found an update for
Rescue and Recovery v4.1.0314. I downloaded it successfully and executed
it with equal success - but it fails to install with an error message that
says I don't have enough free space on my HDD. I have 31.8Gb free space on
my HDD! How much might it need ???

This update seems to be causing a number of users problems. Your problem has been reported before. I do not recall the solution that was posted (if any), but I believe your problem is the lack of space allotted to your Service Partition (normally just under 5 GB with previous versions of R&R).

If I am not mistaken, if you do not have a Service Partition, R&R will install to the C: partition. To install R&R to the Service Partition, I believe you need to use partitioning software to increase the size of the Service Partition.

Lenovo wrote:Symptom
When upgrading from a prior version of Rescue and Recovery the user gets a message: "There is not enough free space in the boot sector to install the Rescue and Recovery boot manager".

When both Utimaco Safeguard Easy and Novel ZENworks are installed on a system, there is not enough space to install the Boot Manager for the Rescue and Recovery application.

Solution
None. Uninstalling ZENworks and then performing the upgrade still generates the same message.

You're not mistaken. I've removed my service partition and use RnR and that's where it gets installed.
