Trackpoint Scrolling Phenomenon - can't find cause

I have experienced now and again, on both T23 and T43, that when using the trackpoint and middle button to scroll, instead of a scrollbar where the pointer is I’ve had a circle with arrowheads pointing up and down, left and right. As a result scrolling was quicker and automatic until clicking again which got on my nerves and was glad when it stopped doing this. I have absolutely no idea what caused this phenomenon to come or go.

One of my customers experienced this phenomenon, which of course came and went of its own accord, loves it and wants to have it back permanently. My problem is after searching and trying different drivers like a crazy man, I can’t get it to re-appear. I am actually convinced it must be a driver issue.

Has anyone experienced this phenomenon or know what causes it? I’d be very grateful for a cause / solution which I could pass on.

ps. Thank you word for a phenomenal spellchecker.

Sounds like the fast scroll on Firefox.

If you click, with centre button, away from a link or scroll bar, you get an outer circle with a dot between up and down, left and right arrow heads. (Left and right depends on magnification.) To stop it, centre-click again.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, but, how can I cause it to do it in a pdf or explorer for example?

I think that it is Firefox-specific. Whether it can be used elsewhere, as a stand-alone utility, I have no idea.

You could try asking in http://groups.google.co.uk/group/mozill ... vc=2&hl=en

which is a discussion forum for Firefox.

It's not exactly the same thing as you refer to, and I haven't used it
for awhile (preferring the magnifying glass), but go to:

| Access IBM => Configure => TrackPoint => Mouse Properties

Click on the TrackPoint tab. Under "Choose Scrolling or Magnifying ...."
Select "Scrolling".

You might also want to "Enable TrackPoint Scrolling Tips".

Thanks Bob :thumbs-UP:
I'd been through all of that, but missed the further "settings" button, just chose a setting other than normal and !BINGO!

And thanks to Nick Y for the link. I don't use Firefox, but it was interesting reading.
