Trackpoint Calibration

#1 Post by goodmami » Sun Aug 19, 2007 4:11 am

I just received my x61t yesterday, and as it's my first Thinkpad I'm not used to the Trackpoint yet. However, I first found the Trackpoint to be extremely irritating because it was much more sensitive moving up and sideways than it was moving down. I found out that the original nib was actually too large, and it was hitting the 'B' key. Using the smallest nib solved this problem.

But...

Were I to use the larger sized nibs, is there any way to calibrate the sensitivity for different directions? Like, I want it to be more sensitive moving down than moving up, left, or right. Is this possible?

Right Click on your Desktop > Personalization > Mouse Pointers > UltraNav > Trackpoint > Settings > Trackpoint stick (adjust sensitivity according to your requirement).

But AFAIK it`s not possible to control the sensitivity more variable in one and less in the other direction.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

One thing I always do is uncheck "enhance pointer precision" it's a little hard to get under control at first but it definately will react very quickly.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried messing around with the sensitivity, but since it is only for general sensitivity it does not do what i need. I wonder how hard it would be to write a custom driver for it...

I did not notice any significant difference after turning off "Enhance Pointer Precision"

Well, at least the small nib seems to work fine.
