LCD Screws too tight
LCD Screws too tight
Maybe it's a stupid question but I can't really find any solution.
I'm trying to take apart my X21 to replace the screen hinges but now I'm stuck trying to remove the LCD bezel screws (the ones under the plastic cover). I successfully took one out of three but the remaining two are so tight I've already stripped two screwdrivers (they are the right size in case someone asks) and they didn't turn at all.
Can anyone give some help/hint to take these [censored] pieces? I've tought using WD40 with a syringe but only as a last resource because it can get quite messy. How do you loosen the screws if they are almost glued to their holes?

Try with a screwdriver that is one size big ... WD40 is the wrong route to take, ot might harm your machine.

Go get a 'Pozidrive' screwdriver with the #0 size head.
Get a brand-name one, such as Stanley. It's the ideal tool to take any thinkpad apart.

Use Wiha screwdrivers. You need a sharp screwdriver. But if all else fails, then you need the service centre help. Do not break any other things while trying to remove those tight screws. I have undergone these problems before but i seek help from the service centre when i still can't remove those screws. It might be stuck.
My screwdrivers become blunt when i tried the process many times..

Thank you for the advice.
I bought a set of Wiha Screwdrivers. Ordered on Aug 20th. Received yesterday.
Finally was able to take the screws and replace the hinges. The old ones looked like those ray posted on this thread

While I was waiting for the screwdrivers to arrive, I managed to ruin 8 screwdrivers trying to take the screws apart.

I have trouble removing my R52 LCD (bottom right) bezel screw too. Brought it to service centre and requested for a lady to help me and came back with a broken hinged thinkpad!!eddy eddy wrote:Thank you for the advice.
