How do I get Access Connection not to turn on the WinXP firewall when I connect to a new WLAN (not in profile)?

There is a setting (depends on the version) for Advanced settings where you can disable Windows Firewall. It must be set for each profile. ... JDH

latest version.

I want to AC not to turn on WinXP FW when I'm connection to a new network that NOT has a profile.

No hack in registry or something?

It is profile-dependent. Work with AC, not against it. Set up a profile for the new connection and then turn off the firewall setting. Trying to hack the registry for this is silly. ... JDH

I don't want a profile for every place I visit. I travel alot and connect to maybe 10 WLANs every week, I don't want profiles for them since I most of the time never visit them again. Many are unsecure and there is no need for a profile.

I hate to beat on a dead horse, but if the WLAN's are unsecured, set up a single profile for a WLAN with no security. I have one of those for just such a purpose. Then set that profile not to use the firewall. I have another profile for iPass that needs a SSID, so I just change the SSID on that profile. A little organization goes a long way :) ... JDH
