So I had been using software installer up until a few minutes ago since I got the warning that software installer will soon be extinct and that an upgrade would be mandatory and that all updates maybe not be present. So I upgraded to software installer and when i say to get updates. I believe it is giving me updates I recently installed in July such as the power manager, bluetooth, active protection system.
However, when I go to view installation history it says no installation history to view? How do I know what I already have on my computer. And wouldn't system update be searching in the same folders as software installer did to know where everything was downloaded and installed?

No, it wouldn't, unfortunately.

So.............what do I do? The software installer would show the locations that it searched in and recognize drives? How come the system update won't allow me to? What are the problems with having two active protection systems and bluetooth?

System Update does have it's teething problems. For most software and drivers you can go to Windows Add or Remove Programs to see what you have or to uninstall something. I know the Hotkey Utility software does not show up there however.
For software that Software Installer has installed, you can look at the file: C:\Drivers\install.log. You can also look at the .XML files in each of the subdirectories of C:\Drivers\ to see what should be installed and it's version level. However if you manually download a package from Lenovo and extract it's contents to your hard drive, it will extract to a subfolder of C:\Drivers\. This does not (generally) actually install the software. You usually have to run setup.exe from the applicable subdirectory or run Software Installer to actually install the software. I have not used System Update for maybe a year and do not have it installed, so I do not know the particulars regarding it's behavior.

I just installed the updates. I figured system update may not recognize the updaes. However, when the actual programs want to install they will scan the entire computer and remove or update themselves. My T43 is still working fine after the updates. I guess it was just one of those problems. It is man made. It can't be perfect.
