Connection loss (Active Connections)

#1 Post by broman » Sun Sep 16, 2007 4:48 pm

Hello,

I use Active Connections (4.42) because I need to connect to many networks with different settings (printers/vpns etc.).
Unfortunately I've a huge problem with this. Sometime I loose network access, which is re-established directly - but then internet connection does not work any more (although the settings (ip, gateway etc.) are correct). The only possibility to get back the internet connection is a reboot.
I would estimate the problem occurs approx. once a day - independent if connection is wired or wireless.

If anyone has or had a similar problem or has an idea what to do, I were VERY helpful!

My system:
Windows Vista x64
Access Connections 4.42
Intel 3945ABG wireless (driver version: 11.1.1.11)
Intel 82655MM Gigabit (driver version: 9.7.240.0)[/b]
X61t (7762-94G, 1.66 GHz, 4 GB Kingston DDR2-Ram, 250GB WD HD, Vista x64 Ultimate)

I have encountered a similar problem a couple of times, but only with regard to wireless connections. Turning wireless radio on and off did the job every time.
The problem occured only when resuming form sleep or hibernate state and was not frequent.
The platform was however windows XP, not Vista X64.
The wireless card is Intel 2945ABG.

Please look into instructions from GomJabbar in this thread or search for similar issue(s) in the forum.

Some very useful tips regarding configuring Access Connections.

You can also look at a wireless troubleshooting guide from lenovo.

Thanks ryengineer and CZOLG!

Unfortunately the problem is not a wireless-problem, it occurs also if I use a wired connection.

Are you using any firewall by chance?

Does it also happen without the usage of Access Connections?

Only Windows Vista Firewall - but I also tested without any fw active - same problem.

Yes, it also happens without AC - seems to be a Vista problem!?
