Have an Apricorn USB 2.0 PCMCIA card adapter somewhere around here. It too is flush and uses a dongle. I think what most people want is a Type III card (i.e., double height) which has standard USB or IEEE1394 ports into which you can just simply insert a regular plug. I know that if I ever find such a USB 2.0 or combo USB and Firewire beast, I'll be buying several (if the price is right).gator wrote:Is this the holy grail that I have been searching for? I think I have finally found a 19K5679/19K5686 equivalent flush fitting firewire card that is currently available for $25. I have looked and looked in ebay for the IBM card, and it is just too rare to come by.
edit: This is a laugh... I've had this Apricorn card for about two years and only used it once. I found the box and everything is still inside; the PCMCIA card, the install CD, the dongle and the bag the dongle came in. On that plastic bag is a label with "32P5081" written on it. Sounds like an IBM FRU doesn't it? Googling it, the first hit is:
IBM Thinkpad USB 2.0 Cardbus Cable - 32P5081
Laugh #2: On the back of the Apricorn ez usb 2.0 box is a picture of the adapter being installed into a laptop's PCMCIA slot. Care to guess which laptop is shown?
