Error 75; System Update

#1 Post by Caryntjen » Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:05 am

I'm having an error with System Update v3.00.0028 on Windows XP Home SP2 with my IBM ThinkPad Z61m!
When I'm updating with System Update there's an error saying:

Error 75 received from the Package Index Server. Please contact the Support Center.
(Translated from dutch to english; dutch error: Fout 75 ontvangen van de Package Index Server. Neem contact op met het Support Center.)

Some days ago I had a lot of problems with my laptop so I deleted everything and went back to the original settings and this was also one of the problems and I saw also now that System Updated said a wrong model number(TP_4F___) so I searched the whole regestry through 'regedit' for the wrong model number and changed everything to the right numbe(9459-A15)r and tried again but the same error.

Somebody has any idea? Thank you.

I also googled the error but no solution... I found that other thinkpad user have the same problem (http://zurich.ai.mit.edu/hypermail/thin ... /0015.html)

So this must be a global thinkpad problem.

Kindly install the latest Thinkvantage System Update v3.02. Also make sure that Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or later is installed on your machine in advance.

If above doesn't help then redo the factory restore once more, it has seemed to have solved issues with Thinkvantage System Update for the machines under my microscope, atleast.

You also have a choice to install drivers for your machine manually too:

Drivers and software - ThinkPad Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t.

Press F1 to enter the BIOS setup menu. Is your machine type properly displayed there? If not, then you probably need the Hardware Maintenance Diskette to set it, or else send it in to Lenovo to have them set it.

While looking for possible causes for this error, I stumbled across something strange.
Symptoms corrected by the latest UltraNav wizard for Windows 2000/XP - ThinkPad R40, R50, R50p, R51, R52, R60, T30, T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p, T43, T43p, T60, T60p, Z60m, Z60t, Z61m, Z61t

I did it and next to the System Unit Serial Number and the System Board Serial Number it says nothing, so how can I change that or get the Hardware Maintenace Diskette (on CD/DVD-rom)

Anyone has an idea how to change the incorrect Model & Serial Number of my laptop? In the registry it didn't work :( or maybe I did something wrong, maybe through bios but I don't know how I could do that...
