2nd HDD wont boot after bios-update... (R52, XP SP2)

#1 Post by indessen » Tue Sep 25, 2007 2:10 pm

Hello,

I have two HDD, one 60gb Fuyitsu and a 2 Gb Flash IDE Drive with a slim XP. I recently updated XP etc. on the 60gb, incl. bios update. now, when I insert the 2gb Flash, it wont boot, commenting on a damaged BIOS file.

What can I do? Problem is, that I cant put the 2Gb drive in a HDD Drive Adapter, as the master/slave setting allow it.

thankful for any help.
Alex

Why don't you reinstall the previous BIOS version? It should be listed at the bottom of the BIOS update page. I don't know which type R52 you have, but you can get the BIOS updates and other drivers from the following page. Be sure to use the appropriate Embedded Controller version with the BIOS version you are running.

Brilliant! Why didnt I think of that? ;) ... and it worked, had to go down to 1.27 from 1.29. thanks!

but does this mean that if I have two different hard drives, i cant ever upgrade the Bios? or could it be that the new bios blocked the other hard drive, which is not "standard" anyway (Transcend Flash IDE Disc 2Gb).

Sorry, this is the first I read of this problem, and I don't have any answers. :(
