Connecting 4:3 thinkpad to a widescreen TV ?

My mother has a x60s. She wants to connect it via VGA to a plasma TV, to show some powerpoint shows at a business conference.

Problem is, the TV is 16:9 (widescreen).

So when you put the thinkpad in dual display mode, it displays a 4:3 image on a 16:9 screen, resulting in distortion.

How do you guys get around this? I have download powerstrip but I seem to remember that it doesn't play well with onboard gfx.

What is the resolution of the TV? Try to set that resolution (in presentation director, or whatever). If that doesn't work, you can at least set a 8:5 widescreen resolution, that will distort less than 4:3.

Alternatively, the TV may have an option to display 4:3 with correct aspect (and black bars on the sides), instead of stretching.

Played around with resolutions in powerstrip for a while. Finally got a 95% perfect resolution - but powerpoint still distorted.

Then I googled and found the perfect fix... !

It's in that thread if anyone comes across the same problem as me. The fix is brilliant as it doesn't care what res your pc monitor or widescreen tv is.

Hi

I don't know if that help but it should..Install Omega Drivers(if you have ATI GPU).Then Set up second screen resolution to resolution you need then connect your X60 to plasma TV and change screen resolution..

Give me a call about result..
