Finger Swipe is not detected automatically

I have updated my fingerprint software to the latest
But then, the finger swiping logon does not work afterwards:
I have to press a Ctrl-Alt-Del and then ENTER to confirm that I'm a certain user, and wait for a smaller size prompt dialogue to appear to ask me to swipe my finger in order to make fingerprint logon work
Also, I was wondering if it is the problem of system update: I've updated fingerprint software and ultranav both for two times followed by reboot, but each time after reboot, system update still detect the two packages (that were installed) as available updates
Does anyone have similar experience?

Already been asked few times:

For fingerprint reader try this:
To change your logon settings:
1. Select Start >All Programs > ThinkVantage > ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software > Control Center
2. Go to Settings > System Settings > Logon.
3. Select:
• Fingerprint Logon
When this option is selected the fingerprint logon to your computer is enabled..
•Do not show CTRL+ALT+DEL message: The standard Windows CTRL+ALT+DEL message will not be displayed. Only a prompt to swipe a finger will be shown. (The logon dialog for entering user name/domain/password can be invoked by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL so that users are able to log on using user name and password.)
Refer to:
Fingerprint Reader tips
Fingerprint Software 5.6 User's Guide
After reading everything carefully, if you are still unable to solve the problem then I suggest on reverting back to the older version of drivers, reinstalling them again or performing a system restore in Windows will do.

I have my client security solution enabled, so the Fingerprint logon tab just points me to "client security solution --> manage security policies --> log on to windows--> (my own settings)"
Before "updating" (not shown in update log anyway), it always works in a way that my fingerprint swipe is automatically taken

Finger windows logon and update bugs

I discovered two things:
I have Fingerprint software 5.6.2.3650 installed
but System update keeps on asking me to install Fingerprint software 5.6.1.3419 (an older version?)
And after installation, there's some weird behavior:
The windows logon fingerprint prompt is the narrow one with a finger icon on the left hand side, it said "please wait or press Ctrl-Alt-Del" instead of "please swipe your finger or press..." and it doesn't take my finger swipe automatically
Also, after I DISABLE client security logon interface at the client security solution, the logon finger swipe WAS STILL THERE, but it works NORMALLY
There must be some bugs on either the update part that causes the problem by updating to a previous version causing some incompatible behavior, or some problem with the software (CSS or fingerprint software) if it is "normal"

Some more detailed description about the symptom after those repetitive updates of fingerprint software which turned out to be a previous version:
1. At the beginning:
The window logon prompt is a narrow one with a finger-on-sensor cartoon, saying "Please wait... or press Ctrl-Alt-Del..."
It doesn't take my finger swipe automatically, and I have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then ENTER to signify I'm certain user before it prompt me to swipe my finger again with a much smaller size finger swipe prompt (like a small square in size)
2. When I have disabled the client security logon interface in CSS:
There is still a logon prompt for finger swipe, very similar to 1. But instead, the dialogue is saying "Please swipe your finger or press Ctrl-Alt-Del..."
It takes my finger swipe automatically, and it logs on. However, once I'm completely logged on, it prompts me to swipe my finger AGAIN with a small square dialogue box (to activate the CSS? password manager?)
3. When I have enabled the client security logon interface again in CSS:
There is a different and large size logon prompt (thicker and similar to the size of normal XP logon prompt) without any cartoon on it, just with text saying something like "Press Ctrl-Alt-Del or Swipe your finger..."
For this, it takes my finger swipe automatically to log on, and there is no further prompt for my finger swipe after I'm completely logged on.

milstein, I posted about the same problem in the Thinkpad T6x Series forum...
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=50757
This was before finding your thread in the General HARDWARE/SOFTWARE Questions forum.
Fortunately, the 3-step solution that you relayed in your last post solved my problem completely. Thank you!

Hey ryengineer, any ideas?
No problems here between 5.62 & CSS 8/x, except the updater continues to find and display previous version. Besides hiding the update, how can I have it removed as a optional update?
Thx,
Mic1

Defer it and then never install it.

Thanks milstein! following your 3 steps above fixed the issue in my x60s
Before this, I opened a ticket with ibm tech support. 3 days after having to describe the issue in 150 characters (yes, less than an SMS!!), I had a call from a tech support "engineer" telling me that probably the motherboard in my x60 was faulty and I will have to return it for repair (?!!).
In the linux world, I open a ticket against a kernel driver, attach screenshots and logs, and in a few hours I got an email from the developer and a patch committed. One day people are going to realize.
