Let's say I wanted to boot my OS from a USB drive and load it to RAM. No longer needing the harddrive on a Thinkpad Tx series, I'd like to use three batteries (main, ultrabay, recently vacated harddrive slot) for ridiculous battery time while avoiding bulk.
Anyone done it or have an idea of how difficult a process this would be? Advice on best models to try? I am open to a T6x if this is the best model. I'm comfortable soldering some SMB but do best when pointed in the correct direction.
Thank you.

Two Ultrabays already installed in the machine. No hacking needed but you will need to exercise some more if you expect to carry it around a lot
. It does violate your "avoiding bulk" comment though...
I don't know how you would expect to "drive" the voltage from a battery into the hard drive interface. I would say you are in uncharted territory.

I hoped I could parallel the battery terminals to the existing ultrabay. Please correct me -- if I parallel voltage stays the same but I will increase mAH, effectively making a very large extended battery encased in the laptop?
You're right, A3.p is bigger than I am looking for, though by bulk I mean lugging around extra stuff (like batteries instead of a charger
). Thank you.

Camera LED does not work? Make sure it's not taped over. :)
