Hello there,

since I downloaded and installed a driver (because the old one didn't work) for the integrated LAN-module in my Thinkpad R50e, there is the following error message when I try to boot:
"ERROR
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in. Power off and remove the Mini PCI network card."

The clue is, that I never installed such a card! And unfortunately, neither I can reach the Access-IBM-Tool, nor the system boots from CD (there is no floppy in this model). The only thing I can do is entering the BIOS setup.

Can anybody tell me how i can reset this setting so I can boot the system?

There is no-1802 hack available.

Hi and thanks, but my problem is, that i don't have any card inside!
The second problem is, that i can't boot from CD (or floppy, or USB dongle), because the error message occures before and I can do nothing but turning off the computer.
But maybe I can change some settings in the BIOS? What I already did was changing the startup order. Did I miss some options?

Try going into the BIOS setup menu and doing the following (this is the shotgun approach). Hopefully this will allow you to boot into Windows, but you will not be able to use the onboard ethernet. I am not sure how to fix that. You could get an ethernet PC Card for the PCMCIA slot in the side of the notebook.

Go to Config > Network, and disable the following:
* Wake on LAN
* Flash over LAN
* Internal Network Option ROM
* Internal Network Device

Go to Startup > Boot, and disable the following:
* PCI LAN

Go to Startup > Network, and disable the following:
* PCI LAN

Try booting into Safe Mode.
Press F8 repeatedly when you switch on, you should get a menu with Windows options, select Safe Mode without networking.
Then see if you can Roll Back to your old driver, or remove the driver altogether. Then Reboot and keep your fingers crossed.
