Error in creating rescue media process.. pls help!

#1 Post by tamujun » Tue Nov 27, 2007 11:56 am

I updated R&R to the latest version and tried to create a rescue media DVD for the system. And here comes the error message:

An internal error has caused this processo fail.

I have T60 Vista, R&R4.1. Backup to USB HDD works fine. However hen I tried to make the USB HDD bootable, it failed.

I did have a boot manager in place and wonder R&R could not find the original boot ini file provided by the OEM.

I tried to boot it up from an old version of rescue CD but also failed. My system is working fine but I just try to make a bootable DVD for future use.

Somebody can help me on this?? Thanks!

Can you boot into Predesktop console? If not then try the following method:

Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette.

You can call IBM Support Center at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7!) and explain what you're explaining to request a copy of Product Recovery disks. If you still can't restore your system through those disks then your HDD might require a low level format.

Please refer to the following thread for more info. on low level format:

RnR 3.1 Unable to restore to factory sett. from Hidd. Partit.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I don't believe that any version R&R supports DVD as boot media, try creating a boot cd.
Did the older version cd fail because it couldn't find something to recover, or did it just not work? (afaik different versions of R&R are not compatible with each other)

Thanks guys. I have figured it out. After upgrading my R&R from 4.0 to 4.1, I was able to create a rescue media. Yes, it's DVD bootable!:-)

Thanks again for your kind responses.
