T61: upgrading hard drive

#1 Post by evolution22 » Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:46 pm

I'm buying a T61, with vista basic, and 80gb hd - but i plan on replacing it with a 160gb HD and windows XP.

I heard that the recovery disks are built into thinkpad hard-drives, so will i have any problem with replacing the hard drive? can i download xp drivers from their website?

thanks!

Create a set of recovery discs before you pull out the old hard drive. That way you can restore Vista if you want to in the future. Other than that, yes you can either manually download the XP drivers from Lenovo or install System Update 3 and use that utility to do it for you.
