Non-warrantee repair in Worcester/Boston MA

#1 Post by chris_clark » Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:02 pm

I have approximately 4 thinkpads (mostly a31p's) that are in various stages of dying, e.g. inverters failing, and are out of warrantee. I'm looking for a recommendation of a reliable repair shop in the eastern MA area that will figure out a low-cost repair (e.g. cheaper than buying another used one on ebay) for each one that can be repaired.

Hopefully, someone will have had a positive experience.

James (jamiphar) has worked on one of my A31p babies, and has gotten away with repairing some very serious stuff, as well as replacing the backlight. At least another one (possibly two) of these will be on their way to him within the next two weeks.

I know for a fact that he has worked on several others and would recommend him highly as someone with skills to take care of your machines.

Feel free to contact him directly, he's a very open, polite and knowledgeable young man.

I don't repair anything myself, but have owned more A31p machines than anyone I know who hasn't been an IBM re-seller when they were new, so feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have.

Good luck.
