Matlab benchmarking Intel Core 2 Duo T7400

#1 Post by Marin85 » Wed Jan 09, 2008 1:36 pm

Hi,
what you can see here are the results of a Matlab 2007b benchmark on my ThinkPad:

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/8946 ... verjo4.jpg

All listed machines have 2GB of RAM or more installed except for the one running Windows 2000 (only 512MB of RAM). They use different graphic adapters, mainly GeForce 4 MX400, ATI Radeon X850XT and GeForce 6600. If someone is interested in the graphic performance, I ´ll post the exact specs later. The specs of my machine can be found in my signature. Enjoy! 8)

EDIT: if the qualitity of the linked image is not that good, I could post a hot link to the image with full-size if the MODs would permit to.

the quad core core 2 duo running linux is near the bottom? That's a weird listing.

I'd certainly say that a core 2 duo can beat out an opetron though

edit -- looks like they screwed up the graphics on the linux quad core and it won everything but it lost in the the 2d/3d performance so badly that it put it near last

it was probably running without drivers at all doing the 2d/3d in software mode

Yeah, you´re right, the quad core uses ZBuffer rendering for graphics. It´s a very interesting listing though. I´m not sure how the total score is determined but my guess is the scores for each test are just summed up. I think it´s quite interesting what for factors determine the system performance. I had another comparison through Matlab benchmarking where Athlon 2.2 GHz with Linux 64bit significantly outperform Athlon 2.6 GHz with Linux 32bit (ceteris paribus)
As to the Opteron, even my T7400 beats it in the arithmetik 8)

Cheers

Marin

EDIT: I changed the topic name because the former was a little bit infantil. We´re talking here about serious things 8)
