Not in 2.5 , though I just looked at an external 3.5, 250 gig, 7200rpm drive, USB with power brick for $69.00 @ComputerGeeks. Just consider an external, portable drive.

in an external case the speed of the hd doesnt matter as the usb connection is the limiting factor. you could put a 10000 rpm raptor in an usb case and it wouldnt be faster as a 5400 rpm drive.

Higher rpm means lower latency. Meaning a 10k rpm drive, with half the latency of a normal drive, would be still be faster in a certain significant way, even in a usb case.

I am using a 3.5" HDD installed in an eSATA enclosure, which is connected to the eSATA PCMCIA card that I installed on my T61p. Both the raw transfer rate and the access time are much better than the internal 2.5" HDD.
Also, if you want to have 2 eSATA HDD connected to the laptop, you may want to look at those eSATA Expresscard(if your machine supports it), which has a much higher bandwidth to handle two HDD simultaneously.
T60 (2007-66U): upgraded to C2D T7400, 2GB DDR2-667, Hitachi Travelstar 5k250, 14" SXGA+, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (sold).
T61 (8891-CTO): C2D T7300, 4GB DDR2-667, Hitachi Travelstar 5k250, 14" SXGA+, Nvidia Quadro FX 570M (128MB).
