Acronis True Image v11

#1 Post by Marin85 » Mon Jan 14, 2008 11:06 pm

Hi,
I currently have Acronis True Image v10 running well on my TP but also have a valid license for v11. So I was wondering if I should go upgrade. What do you think, guys?

Thanks in advance

One caution based on my personal experience:

Images created with version 11 may not restore images that were created with version 10.

I had this happen -one time- and because of that I stopped using version 11.

IMHO:
V9 is a very stable version.
V10 seems to have been a fly-by-night interim.
V11 has some nice new features added.
As mentioned, beware of version-incompatibility.
Download the trial version of V11 and see if it restores your V10 images.
If it works fine, go for the update.

If you have the license why not.

I am using TI v11 on my X61 TPC without any worries or hitches. It does what it is suppost to do without any problems whatsoever.

I have imaged the disk a couple of times for testing and experimenting with different setups all without a hitch.

If only all software was as good as TI :?

I recently had to use trueimage 11 to restore my drive after anti-vruis software locked up some key IBM security files.
I booted from a USB external drive using the acronis utilities (I hate burning cd's)

anyways it was easy and saved my bacon :)
take care,
Seth

Interesting.

I've never tried that with a USB stick. Must give it a go. Any gotchas?

Didn't read your mail properly. You did indeed say external hard disk.

But my interest has been raised. Have to have ago and see if I can boot from a USB stick.

Should work if the BIOS supports it.

I've been sucessful in using a usb drive with TI 10 on it. Much faster bootup.
