D-Link wireless router slows download speeds on wired LAN

OK, first of all, if I'm posting this in the wrong section of the forum, feel free to move it wherever...

Here's the deal: I'm running my in-house wireless connection through a D-Link DI-624M router, I know it's a cheapo, but that part of the work it does just fine, much better than the LinkSys I've had before. Here's the frustrating part, though:

When my cable modem is connected directly into any of my ThinkPads (wired LAN), I get between 9-10Mbps download speeds. However, when it's routed through the aforementioned D-Link, I'm only getting about 10% of the above speed-always under 1Mb through the wired connection. Funny part is, the upload speeds are the same, with or without the router. All of this has been measured using speakeasy, which is what we use at work to reference speeds on data circuits.

Ideas, anyone?

Hiya Neighbour,
There are mixed reports about your DI-624M

They talk here about switching off a turbo-mode. Does that help?
