Program Keyboard. Map Swop Ctrl FN keys

#1 Post by Clavain » Sun Jan 20, 2008 6:11 am

Hello everyone,

I don't like the layout for the Ctrl and FN keys on my Thinkpad and would like to swop them around. Namely the "Ctrl" key becomes the function key and vice versa.

Can anyone help me out here? Is there a tool for doing this known to the esteemed members of this forum?

Welcome to the Thinkpads.com Forum!

There are a number of utilities and registry edits that allow you to swap keys on a Thinkpad, but I'm pretty sure that none of them allow you to change the special blue Fn key. I think that specific key is hard-wired into the Thinkpad BIOS/hardware.

For the other keys, you might search IBM/Lenovo for their key customization utility or check out KeyTweas or the instructions for Windows Logo Key for ThinkPads here on Thinkpads.com.

Which method is best will depend on your Thinkpad, OS, and how much RAM/processor overhead you are willing to sacrifice.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will certainly have a look at both of your ideas.

Cheers,
Clavain.
