External Battery charger for thinkpad s30?

#1 Post by david_sa » Thu Jan 24, 2008 3:55 pm

A friend has problems with a thinkpad s30. It won´t turn on connected to AC, only works with batteries.
Is there an external battery charger for this rare thinkpad?

By any chance has your friend tried another power supply? One of the 56W power supplies was recalled in 2005 with PN:02K6549, that part number isn't one of the originals sold with the S30. Closest was 02K6548 which might be a cousin. Ask them to check the PN.
The only battery charger I know of off hand is the 22P9040 and it charges batteries for the A, T, X and R models. Without knowing what the battery connection looks like I can't positively recommend it but it's worth looking into. It charges the batteries using the laptops power brick so over or undervoltage isn't the problem, it's the design and spacing of the battery leads that is. I simply don't know. I've seen pictures and actually have the manual for the S30 (part numbers for a project) but I'm not positive the battery chargers DC lead connectors will fit.
