Hello all,
the battery of my TP 365XD has died long ago.
I've come across a computer store selling new old stock.
The also offer a new, never used, original IBM battery (2800 mAh) for my TP 365XD.
This battery must have been lying on stock for several years.
My question is, will this battery still work?
Or do Ni-MH batteries (new, never unused ones) lose their capacity (i.e. "slowly die") even when they have never been used?
Kind regards,
Erik Meussen
New old stock battery question
They do lose some capacity over time. If the price is really that good, I'd at least try it. Make sure that you explain to the merchant that there is a risk that new old stock batteries may not work well. and make sure that you can return it (get it in writing). If he balks at any of that, then he's not your battery merchant

According to Battery University:
You can find a new battery (third party oem) for as low as $38 on ebay with 1 Yr. warranty:
365XD battery.
I would suggest about not buying the old batteries.
How to store batteries.Nickel-metal-hydride can be stored for about three years. The capacity drop that occurs during storage is permanent and cannot be reversed. Cool temperatures and a partial charge slows aging.

Hello,
thanks for the answers. After reading your replies and not knowing how old the battery offered is, I searched the internet for other suppliers more offers. and have found a battery company offering a new battery with one year warranty for EUR 20,00 (about $28,00).
I think I will go for the new battery with one year warranty.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Erik Meussen
