Which ThinkPad/Thinkvantge stuff slows the most?
I recently wiped and did a fresh install of Vista. My X60 laptop's boot up time was decent, but the time has drastically increased since installing all ThinkPad/Thinkvantage software.
Going from cold power on to OS finally getting everything loading takes a few minutes.
Which of the ThinkPad/Thinkvantage apps drag the most on the CPU or boot up times?

I have since removed Client Security Solution and Access Connections, and my laptop has a faster boot.novasource wrote:I recently wiped and did a fresh install of Vista. I left ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.6 installed. I didn't realize it would work without CSS. Seems that the fingerprint software may only provide drivers and basic fingerprint functionality, such as log on to Windows functionality?
@novasource
How much faster would you say your boots gotten after you removed Access Connections? (I already have CSS gone)
Just wondering because I'm just letting Vista handle my wireless and its been fine so far, so I guess no point in keeping AC around.

Maybe a couple of minutes? It used to be about 5-6 minutes before everything calmed down and got really usable. Now the boot time is comparable to my Athlon X2 3800+ desktop.Trekk69 wrote:@novasource

I found Access Connections to be a necessity with the old ThinkVantage X40 and XP because something with the drivers prevented Windows from managing the network connection. Now that the drivers have apparently improved or become more standardized, Access Connections is unnecessary bloat to me.
