How to create bootable restore disk?

Most new notebook comes with restore CD.

I have an older i1400 with 4GB. I just bought 60gb from Fleebay. I like to create a bootable restore CD from my 4gb and than fresh restore/install to the new 60gb.

What's the goog/best and easiest application for this job?

Acronis True Image. It allows you to make a bootable restore disk and you can also create a hidden restore partition on the hard drive with F11 functionality at startup. It costs 50 bucks but is well worth it.
If you want something free you can try Clone-Maxx. I don't know anything about it other than it is free.

Thanks I'll try that. I'll try the Acronis, the clonemaxx look likes you need a disket.

I second Acronis True Image (ATI). However, there is no need to get the latest (and therefore most expensive!) version of ATI (which is ver. 11), if you use Windows XP. In such case, I would recommend getting ATI ver. 9 which works very fine with XP (but which does not support Vista). Get ATI ver. 9 from eBay - it is available from around $10. Then, download the manual and the latest build from the ATI site (for ver. 9 the latest build is 3854). Make an ATI "Bootable CD Rescue Media", and you are in business!

ATI will also very easily allow you to clone your old HDD onto the new larger HDD (tip: In such case, be sure to chose the "Manual Mode" during the cloning, and size the partitions on the new larger HDD manually). Much more info about cloning using ATI if searching this forum.

It looks like Seagate provides a free version of AcronisTrueImage in form of their DiscWizard.
And it also supports Vista....

I've tried this and it is a feature limited version of ATI Home but it is Acronis and it does most of the important stuff.
It will allow you to make a bootable restore DVD('s) or backup to a hard drive/network drive but there is no Secure Zone. It will also backup a live system.
It will install on any computer but it will not run if it does not detect a maxtor (MaxBlast) or seagate (DiskWizard) drive.

Ok guys and gals. I got my hands on Acronis TrueImage 9.1 Workstation. I don't really know where to begin. I tried to do the back but wasn't sure if i got it right. Could someone guide me?

Has anyone done this before? I like to get guidance on how-to from people who has done it before. Like to know what software people have success with.

Suggestion without guidance is not gonna help me. I know there's a whole bunch of apps out there. I have download and install and tried it, but there's too much options. Is it complicated as it seems? From what i've research, looks complicated with many steps.

Let just say, i'm not a book worm, i'm more of a hands on.
