SATA vs PATA for backup

I know that I cannot use a SATA drive in my X31. However, I have a sdrive enclosure and want to up the drive size in it as I use it for external backup. Can I put a SATA drive in the enclosure (it was purchased a couple of years ago). And will it interface ok as an external drive with the X31 (or my wife's T23)? In other words, are the connectors the same, and is there any other reason the X31 can't see the drive as external?
Thanks
Mike

What is an sdrive enclosure? Is it USB?
The connector on a sata and pata drive are completely different. You will need to buy a drive that fits your sdrive enclosure.
If it is a standard USB enclosure then it should work on just about any computer you plug it into, including an X31 or a T23.

Yes it's a standard USB external drive enclosure. Sorry my finger slipped onto the s key! So if the connector is different (which makes sense) I would need to buy a USB drive enclosure designed for SATA.
Thanks

Yes, and to answer the part about will it work, yes, because i use a SATA usb enclosure to back up stuff from my t42. I don't know much about x31's but if it does not have usb 2.0 you might think about getting 2.0 pcmcia or firewire pcmcia card to increase speed a little.

Yes X31 has USB 2.0.
