HDD noise, both sides caddy?

#1 Post by ondrik » Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:05 pm

Hi, few days ago I replaced original 40GB hdd from my T41.
I bought WD2500BEVE. But when I replaced it I was quite disappointed with hdd noise (to understand, it's not so terrible, but I mostly work at night and with fans off, and only sound is from hdd).
I compared with original and difference is serious.
Finally, I've found with WD on my IDE2USB cable that when i put my finger on hdd it's much more better.
It works only for one side, unfortunately for top (which is not covered by caddy, so I cannot put something between it).
Solution would be to have caddy covering hdd from both sides, is there someone?
Or any others ideas?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

If the difference is as noticeable as it sounds to me, you should return the new HDD for a refund/replacement. There is absolutely no reason for it to be any noisier than the original one, quite the opposite.

Just my $0.02
