What is the story with Linksys and 3945abg wireless?

I have a Linksys wag54g v3 adsl router.

It is fine with atheros and broadcom wireless.

However the T60/T61, R61 and Lenovo 3000 series that run the 3945abg wireless are not even able to find the router.

what is going on here?

using the standard Intel drivers. They work find on an old Netgear router.

How do I resolve this?
