Should I remove the battery

Hi,

when I used my old laptop (no IBM/Lenovo) with the AC adapter I always removed the battery in order to increase the battery lifetime, since it was always charged when plugged in. Now with my Lenovo R61 I set "start to charge" to 80% (is this a good value or what would you recommend in order to increase battery lifetime). So do I still have to remove the battery or is the battery not affected when it remains in the laptop, since the settings should make sure, that it only gets charged below 80%.
I really don't want to mess up the battery too early, because I use the AC Adapter most of the time.

Thanks for help.

I have been removing the battery every time I plug in my X61T since I have obtained it in November even after saying 'charged to 92%' than stop.

I am able to be getting 7ish hrs with everyday usage on maximum battery life setting, and simple inking on notes every day.

Ok, but since the battery is not charging above 60% why should I remove it? A new charging cycle is only added when the battery is below 60%. So how do you guys use your battery in the AC mode?

The reason is heat. The battery's temperature rises a good 5-10 degrees even when not in use. Heat wears the battery out faster, but at that temperature I would not consider it a big deal (I would keep it in).
