Unable to uninstall CSS

I'm trying to uninstall my CSS version 6.01.0037 and getting "The installed product does not match the installation source(s)" message although there is a 'Client Security Solution.msi' file under the requested c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations\{DE9E74C3-AA2E-4DDE-A9DB-BB8211B9624F} folder.
After I direct Windows Installer to the file I get "The file 'Client Security Solution.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product Client Security Solution. Try to find the installation package 'Client Security Solution.msi' in a folder from which you can install Client security Solution.
I tried to install an upgrade to 6.01.0042 through the system update in order to uninstall the CSS after the upgrade but I get "A later version of 'Client Security Solution' is already installed on the machine" which is not the situation.
System Update also recommends upgrading to CSS v8, but I don't to get stuck with v8.
Have any suggestions?

Why don't you want to upgrade to CSS 8? Under System Update, it will likely be next to impossible to update such an old version of CSS.
Yes, admittedly, I find certain applications are better left alone without updates or major upgrades. But I don't consider CSS to be one of them.

I'm kind of short of free space on my 12G C partition,
and prefer not to entrust my laptop to the corporate support guys so they will uninstall the drive encryption software (Utimaco Safeguard Easy) in order to increase the C partition size.
I have another problem that my laptop enters a state of excessive disk caching about once a day. It continues endlessly and freezes almost completely during the caching until I hard boot it.
So I'm trying to uninstall all unnecessary software, and since I'm not using CSS I want to uninstall it. According to System Update CSS v8 requires much more space (about 750MB!?), and I don't want to risk installing it without a way to uninstall it. Also there is the possibility that V8 installation may require the uninstall of V6 and I'll end up in the same situation.

Here is the link to download CSS 6.01.0037:

Copy the encrypted files in your PrivateDisk folder to another location just to be safe. Install CSS 6.01.0037 or try to update it to CSS 6.01.0042 over your current installation (what is left of it, anyway), and then uninstall it. This should completely remove CSS from your system. Use a good registry cleaner to scour any remnants of CSS from your system.
I'm not sure about the cause of your excessive disk caching. Is your paging file large enough? Is it a custom size or do you allow Windows to control it? Adding more RAM would probably reduce the amount of HDD caching that occurs throughout the day.

Thanks USSS, but both installations claim that I have a later version of CSS installed on my machine.
CSS's Help/About says I have the 6.01.0037.00 version.
When I run the "Active update" from within CSS's Help menu it says that my version is up-to-date and no updates are available.
Now I got it...I looked into the CSS folder and found that the files there have 6.01.0044.00 version, but the text file tvtcss.txt says v6.01.0037. What a mess...
Regarding the caching problem I don't think it's the "normal" caching and there is a software that causes that problem. My paging file size is automatic and at 753MB. The problem got worse after I updated my Windows & Ms-Office to the latest patches.

Go into "Add/Remove programs" control panel, find CSS, and go through the 'repair' option. Reboot as prompted. After this you should be able to uninstall.

It may not be that easy. CSS doesn't show up in the list of "Add/Remove Programs" on my system, and it is cleanly installed with the latest update.
CSS does, however, appear in my group of programs in Your Uninstaller! 2006. Which gives me another idea...
@Gico:
Download a copy of Revo Uninstaller (it's free) and see if it will locate the remnants of CSS on your system and remove them for you.

CSS Does appear in the "Add/Remove Programs", but running "change" or "remove" bring the Windows Installer window asking for the installation source, which I obviously don't have.
As for Revo Uninstaller I downloaded, installed & ran it, chose the (default) moderate uninstall, but stopped before the final removal of registry items because within the 1791 registry entries identified as related to CSS some were related to Utimaco Safeguard Easy which was installed by our support staff and is being used to encrypt my HD.
Since SafeGuard Easy Private Disk is part of CSS and Safe Guard Easy (HD encryption) is not (AFAIK), I don't want to risk uninstall of software components based on identification of a 3rd party software.

You'll need to submit a support request to Lenovo. Unfortunately, I've run out of ideas.
