Finally pulled the trigger on a T61

Hope I don't mind carrying it in my backpack for the next year or so!

Thanks to all the people who provided feedback in my 'laptop for RtW trip' thread! It's taken some serious thinking to move from planning on a used X31 to shelling out for a T61. Once I got to the point where I was comparing used T60's on eBay, the latest Lenovo sale proved too tempting to ignore.

I spent more time reading about IBM X31/32/40/41 T40/41/42/43/60/61, Panasonic CF-W5/W7/Y5/Y7, Fujitsu P7120/P7230, HP nc2400/nc2510 than I wanted, but the research made my decision clearer. (If anyone has questions......I can probably point you at the relevant reviews.)

I'll be getting a T61 with a 14.1" SXGA+ screen and the integrated graphics...hopefully I'll end up with one of the decent LCD panels. Other than that, I essentially just bumped up the hard drive to the 250GB size, and figure on ordering more RAM from newegg and installing linux as soon as I've convinced myself that I'm satisfied with the laptop.

It's almost unbelievable how much computer you can get for so little $$$ these days.
