Is there a Table of All TP's listing cpu & usb type?

hi folks,

I'm looking for a table that lists all Thinkpad model and type numbers, and shows for each one which CPU-type (i.e. P3, PM, P4, etc) and USB-type (i.e. 1.1 or 2.0) it contains.

It would also be very helpful if the table also listed which type of video/graphics chip and which type of Wifi each one has.

Such a table likely doesn't exist for literally 'all' TP's, but perhaps someone has done one for at least the T20/A20/R30 and newer machines.

I'm trying to identify all models with a Centrino and usb-2; and would also like to filter for those which also use chipset-builtin graphics (i.e. 'intel' video).

I just spent some time with search here, but didn't get any hits that included or linked to such a table.

I've looked at thinkwiki too of course, but while they have lots of individual pages, they don't seem to have a single collated table...unless I just haven't found the right nugget in that goldmine yet...lol...

If anyone knows of such a table, could you post about it?

thanks much!

Richard

OK, let me try to give you a hand here:

First ThinkPads with PM chip and USB 2.0 were some of the R40s (not R40e), available with 16Mb and 32Mb ATi GPUs, and 14" and 15" sizes. None of these, to the best of my knowledge, has integrated video. These came with either Intel 2100b or Atheros a/b wireless cards.

In the X series, that would be X31, all of them with the same M6 ATi GPU.

As for T4x series, the only ones with integrated video are T43s with model numbers starting with 187x-xxx.

R5x series varies a lot, and I'm going to leave that to someone who knows these machines better than I do.

No A series have USB 2.0 or PM CPUs.

This table is close to what you want, but it does not break out USB type. I'd agree with George on the R40 or later models having USB 2.0.

^^^ enter the model you want to see at the end.

Unfortunately it has no usb info. For example, did the P4 R40 have USB 2.0 as well? Or is it only Thinkpads with PM chips?

Yes, P4M machines within R40 range had USB 2.0 as well, the only ones that didn't have 2.0 are R40e.

ahhh....yes, that's the kind of table I was picturing....

[censored]...too bad it doesn't have the USB info. Kind of an important criteria these days.

hmm...odd that he's got T42 info, but the T40/41 records are empty...

George, Harry, aaa....thanks...appreciate you taking the time to respond.

And thanks for the specifics on the R's George. :)

The hunt continues!

I've been looking at the 'tawbook.pdf' etc., in regards to building a single 'master database' of useful TP info.

I think that a good start to an 'overall' table/database could be made by extracting the top portion of each 'page', where the info is listed by actual type-number, and includes many key fields.

Then, some manual intervention to read the text following, and put the graphics, USB 1-or-2, wifi-speed, etc. up into some extra fields added to the lines from the top section.

Then wash, rinse, repeat, with each page of the tawbook; and one would have a pretty good fast and easy lookup for things like CPU-type, USB-port speed, Wifi speed, Graphics-card type, etc..

I don't have the coding/scripting skills myself to automate the extraction of that info, but I'm going to keep it in mind in case I hook up with someone who does....

Thinkwiki has all the info you want, just not in the one place.

USB port information is here, right down the bottom: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/USB_Port

For info on which ThinkPad was available with which CPU, you can either look up the model here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Hardware_Specifications

Or, look up a particular CPU model, and it will have a table: e.g.

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Mobile_Pentium_4-M
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Pen ... 8Banias%29
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Pen ... 8Dothan%29

and so on.

 yeah, that's the problem with thinkwiki; as mentioned above.

but thanks much for that USB page link...I hadn't stumbled across that one yet. Very helpful.

The CPU pages help too.

I'll just have to cut and paste it all into a single table, single page.

thanks again rek. 8)
