can you suggest a hard drive for Vista 64 bit?

It looks like I have successfully installed Vista Business 64 bit on my T60 ThinkPad. 2 gig of RAM and 5400 rpm hard drive.

So far it's peppy, but not a rocket. Perhaps it will speed up a tad when Superfetch settles in. MS Office 2007 seems to run well, but not much faster than the 32 bit setup.

I plan on shopping for four gig of RAM soon, and also wonder about which hard drive to use. I assume a 7200 rpm drive, or 10,000 perhaps?

Your ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't seen a 10,000 rpm drive (that would certainly be nice), but I have a 200 Gb 7200-rpm drive in my T61p with Vista Business 64, and it seem to be snappy (although I do not have Office loaded yet). ... JDH

You are entering religous war territorty with that question! :jhem:

You will notice a difference in moving from a 5400 rpm drive to 7200 rpm drive.

Personally, I am using Seagate and Hitachi 7200 rpm drives in my x6x series Thinkpads running Vista x64, and they both perform equally well for my purposes.
