not sure if this is the correct place to post but i was thinking of getting an older tablet and using it as a DVD player for my daughter during the drive home, road trips, etc. i was wondering if anyone has or is doing this and how is it? why, well i see the portable dvd players out there now and the screens are small as hell. i'm not looking to get the best but something like a P3. so if anyone can give me suggestions on older models it would help too.
thanks

Tablets in today's sense were not introduced until X4x series, and you'll do much better from the financial standpoint just buying a portable DVD player, because you're looking at $500 here at least...
If you want a non-tablet ultraportable (which will require a media slice dock, making it heavier and bigger) X22 and anything above it will do the trick, and these start at around $200 with the dock.
Hope this helps.

When you say "tablet," do you mean a slate tablet (ie no keyboard)? I'm pretty sure most of those come with no built-in optical drive, so you'd have to get an external one, which is inconvenient for when you're traveling. I'd recommend a portable DVD player as well, or perhaps an older 13-14" laptop with a built-in DVD drive and an extended battery.
