limited to 1440x900 resolution on external monitor-any hints

Finally broke down and brought home an external monitor for my T60 (and any others that I will run).

Boy...is this monitor ever bright. Had to turn it way down!

Nearly forgot about the Fn+F7 switch. (duh) Messed around for an hour trying to make the danged thing talk to my ThinkPad till I finally remembered how to use that key combo.

Only thing...My T60 is 1400x1050, so the external monitor is a wee bit off, but not enough to distort the ratios.

Any tips from users on best adjustments for external monitor. This is my first wide screen monitor. No more "regular" in the stores now.

you restarted with it plugged in?

And did you go to display properties and setup settings there?
