Czech Keyboard image?

#1 Post by experttease » Mon May 19, 2008 8:55 am

Could someone please post an image (or link) of their czech layout thinkpad keyboard?

My girlfriend is czech and I will be moving there next Autumn so will most likely get a native thinkpad(!) since she can then use it as well and I will be able to when I have learnt enough czech. Trouble is my czech is still very rusty, so I have difficulty navitgating the czech internet (and nor do I have any 'hacek''d keys to do so...).

Incidentally if anyone has an idea of the best place for buying one too that would be helpful. I am in Praha every now and again, I am close to Hradec too.

Thanks in advance.

p.s. oh, and a reason for my initial question: I don't like the really short backspace key on internet cafe keyboards I've used, amongst other things.

Hi, this is typical Czech keyboard layout of ThinkPad http://notebook.cz/clanky/recenze-noteb ... inkPad-R61 (detailed pictures are on the bottom of the review) I can't stand the shortened left Shift key. There is absolutely useless key between the left Shift and the Z key. That's why I prefer English keyboard layout.

There are many online shops (for example: http://www.czechcomputer.cz/cat_tree.js ... lang=en_US ). Consumer electronics and computers (clothes ... actually everything) are seriously overpriced over here. Typically it is from +20% to +100% comparing to the rest of (western) Europe, just calculating the EUR <-> CZK exchange rate. It might be better to buy it in the UK and get the keyboard replaced.

My personal advice: If both of you can live and get job in the UK, better not to move to the Czech Republic.
