Flash BIOS without a 'fully charged battery'?
Flash BIOS without a 'fully charged battery'?
Please, does anyone here know how to force a BIOS or embedded controller update with out a 'fully charged battery'?
It's just the "belt and suspenders" mentality of IBM engineers attempting to forestall Murphy's Law.Anonymous wrote:Anyone here know why the BIOS update wants you to have a fully charged battery?

Transalation: If your flash fails midstream due to losing power, your motherboard is fried. Having battery back-up ensures the flash will complete if you lose AC power. A fully charged battery is further insurance against the very slim odds that the above will happen (but people post elsewhere everyday that their flash failed, somehow and their mb's are ruined).
