IE 7 multiple connection type setup
IE 7 multiple connection type setup
I have “problem” with IE7 connection setup. I have 2 ways of connecting online via WLAN or via dial-up (56k modem), depending on my location. Every time when I change source of my connection I must change IE connection setting all over again (for broadband or dial-up). Does anyone know how to setup IE for these to connection types to coexist, so i can just choose one; it really annoys me when I must enter all info for dial-up (sometimes few times a day)? I’m using IE7Pro also, so if anyone knows to configure through it (if possible through script of some kind?), let me know. Thanks

I really don't have an answer to your question, and may end up sounding ignorant in the process, but doesn't your dial-up provider have a little program that you could use for this type of connection, something AOL has been doing around here while majority of people still had modem connections?
Honestly, I very much dislike IE7 but that's just me. I'm sure that someone else will be able to walk you through the set-up process, but in the meantime, why don't you give Firefox a shot if you haven't already ?
Just my early-in-the-morning-thoughts, probably worth less than $0.02..

Every advice is welcomed Ajkula66 (or is it Shark66? If you know what I mean
). My dial-up provider is not comercial in terms that is not accesible for all, it's called CarNet (Croatian Academic & Research Network), and doesn't provide additional software, as far as I know (just on-line acces at really low cost, up to 70% down when compared to comercial). Regarding Firefox, it just doesn't feel right (no other reason, don't know why, although I didn't try to solve this on it), and IE7+IE7Pro is all what I need. But if my problem is possible to solve on FF, I will change browser. I'll post results regarding Firefox when I experiment a bit with it. Thanks

Well, beGi, my friend, you can even call me "morski pas 66" like in that old song by "Metak"...I'm revealing my age here, not good...
Is this dial-up something like a VPN type-thing? Because if you can set it as VPN, your wireless network would be your only "network" connection...
Let me know while I mull this over, I have IE7 open now, which I never do, but I have one too many fond memories related to your neighbourhood from my younger years not to try to give you a hand...just kidding...ThinkPadders come first, memories second...

Yes, I've did it, thanks to your VPN advice, I just can't believe that I didn't see that before.
Here's what I've done: Press Setup and set up IE connection for WLAN. Then add a new VPN connection setup for dial-up (enter phone number and name of connection), then press Settings for that VPN connection (check the box for Automatically detect settings; and enter UserName & Password). And on the end, press Dial whenever network connection is not present, that's it....
) and sing Daaaa, mi je biti, morski pas (I know that song very well).... Thanks again...

The last time I saw your beautiful town was one hot summer of 1989, when I came and bought a gorgeous ajkula (as in '70 Citroen DS 21 Pallas, white over red velour) from an original owner, an elderly gentleman, it still had these now long-gone and forgotten plates with big RI and little red star following it...a great example that one was...I used to run a DS car club and everyone knew me as "Djole ajkula" so that's where my forum name comes from, nothing to do with the real sharks...
Haven't been to Balkans since I had moved to the States nine years ago, because I'm too afraid that I'd find it very difficult to return here once I've smelled the old streets again...
.. Nostalgija, as Drago Mlinarec used to sing...
Enough of this nonsense, enjoy your weekend now...
