Has anyone found a method to repair the Ultrabay 2000 Guide Rail?
I'm talking about the small angled support at the far right corner, that is held in place by a screw from the back. It sits above the release for the CD or Floppy or other Ultrabay device.
Any tips, tricks, hints, etc. are highly welcome.

Has nobody tried it with e.g. liquid metal, Araldite, 2-component glue etc?

Just searched Google for this after reviewing our previous conversation:
bond aluminum
and these appeared in the list of hits:
How to bond aluminum to aluminum?
Metal Bonding
Adhesives bond aluminum, steel, galvanized metals to substrate
About the only way I can see something like these materials being used would be to bond a separate angled piece between the side of the Ultrabay cage and the top of the broken mounting tab. All of the ones that I have seen break at the bend where the aluminum has been turned 90 degrees (i.e., the weld of the tab to the cage frame is still intact).

The JB Welding sounds the most promising, but there is not a lot to fill with that paste, without a metal 'filler'.
My son-in-law has access to metal-turning machinery.
He's going to make me some aluminum parts for that corner, a rectangular piece with a round cutout for the plastic bush from the hinge-cover. That piece should then be glued in the inside corner of the broken support.
I'll let you know when I get them, and if they work.
