Has anybody bought and really liked or really regretted the IBM monitor base stand? It looks like a small table shelf with legs or supports and sliding tray underneath that you put your ThinkPad and dock on. You can then slide the tray out to access the laptop and then slide it back out of the way.
I thought this would be a great solution but then I thought it might get clumsy having to move an external keyboard out of the way all the time just access this sliding tray (assuming you have everything right in front of you as most people would). The monitor base looks somewhat big too for a typical desk.
Only reason why I'm interested that I've seen some good deals on second hand IBM docks bundled with a monitor base. But of course, if the base is useless, I'd be better off saving a few bucks and getting just the dock.
