WIFI card & internal WIFI - how to switch between.

Hi there, this is my first post, I have tried to search for past relevant threads but to no avail. Please advise if I am wrong!

I have a T61, it has WIFI built in, I also have a Buffalo PCMICA card which is very good and has a large external antenna.

I travel around with work quite a lot and sometimes hotels have a weak signal that my Buffalo will pick up (on my T30) but my T61 will not. I have only got the T61 recently and have to hand back my T30 soon

So, I installed the Buffalo on the T61. Its software then controlled the connections for the built in receiver - which I don't mind, but I want to be able to plug in the Buffalo and turn off the internal receiver, now and then.

I am running XP by the way.

Any advice is gratefully received.

Is there a little switch on the front of the laptop? All the latest Thinkpads I've had have it - it switches off wifi (for use on airplanes etc) .

Yes, but this also disables the PCMCIA card!

Hi, I have solved this now.

If anyone is interested or has same problem, switch to 'flight safe' mode with the switch on the front, then insert the PCMCIA WIFI card. Hey presto.
