Airport security and bags

There was an article in the New York Times recently saying that airport security (in the US) is relaxing the requirement that all laptops be removed from bags provided the bag is totally transparent to X-rays (no buckles, no other junk in the bag).
Has anyone made it through security with their TP in, say, a Waterfield sleeve?

No, I have the sleeve for my X61T and I have to take it out, and I recently flew in mid June.

During US domestic airline travel during June this year I put a T43 through TSA check points on numerous occasions inside a Biolithic (aka Aussiebag) sleeve without anyone asking me to take it out of the sleeve.
